Online social media, at least the corners of it that I find myself in, or have the opportunity to glimpse from where I wander, pretty much sucks. There's a strong subtext of "Me! Me! LOOK AT ME!" applied to everything. Someone posts a link to something they didn't have anything to do with creating, and it gets titled, "Look what I found while I was something something."
